In ’Body & Soul’ Gitte Bjørn explores the human body, complete with variations, genitals, faces and hands. Here, the touchy parts – noses, balls and rolls of fat – are put on full display in the form of bowls, spoons and candleholders. And the result is one of impish beauty. No provocation here, just an honest display of the truth, beautifully represented in pure silver.
The silver works are complemented by photographic works from the series ‘Falling Leaves’ by Thomas Grøndahl. In the series, the photographer examines decay with the same up-close honesty that Gitte brings to the body’s more or less flattering aspects. The photographs are black and white, abstract, with recognizable elements, while the colourless and shimmering silver reflects its surroundings. Together, the two components form an exhibition that operates on the edge of the naturalist expression with a focus on details – the result is subtle and powerful.
